Biography of Father Jan Cegielski
- Description:
- Graduated from seminary and was ordained. Served in eastern Poland and was there at the time of the Soviet and German occupations. In 1945 – after the return of the Red Army and establishment of Soviet rule – Fr. Jan was arrested and sent to a camp. In 1949 he was in Vorkutlag (sector in Krasny Yar, on the Pechora), where, under the guise of being a member of a traveling musical ensemble, he clandestinely fulfilled his pastoral duties.
