- Born into a lower middle class family in Śwęciany district, Vilnius province, in 1871. He lived in Leningrad, worked as a bookkeeper and was the chairman of the parish council of St. Catherine Church. In 1919 he came under investigation, but was not convicted. January 13, 1927 – again arrested. July 18, 1927 – deprived of the right to reside in the six major cities and the border regions for a period of three years [OGPU Collegium].
