Biography of Antony Schneider

Description:
Born into a peasant family on the Lower Volga in 1900. Studied at Saratov Seminary but was not ordained. Lived in Saratov, taught German at a high school and later served at the People’s Commissariat of Health. December 30, 1930 – arrested in a case against German Catholic clergy and laity. Charged with carrying out espionage work in the interest of Germany and assisting leaders of a counter-revolutionary organization in their flight abroad.” June 6, 1930 – sentenced under Articles 58-4, -6, and -10 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR to ten years in corrective labor camp [OGPU Collegium].
