Biography of Ludwig Szachanowicz

Born into a peasant family in Seliaki, Lipsk district, Vilnius province, in 1881. Lived in Petrograd. From 1914 he worked at Metallic Factory; from 1917 through 1919 he served in the Red Army; from 1920 he was a worker at Arsenal Factory; from 1922 he was a stoker at Krasny Vyborzhets Factory; retired in June 1936. In 1927 he became a member of the parish council of the Church of the Visitation of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary. In March 1938 he was arrested and sentenced to prison camp. Fate thereafter unknown.
