Biography of Bronisƚaw Pilkiewicz

- Born into a lower middle class family in Fastów in 1901. In 1920 he graduated from Kiev Technical School; worked as a senior technician in Fastów and was a parishioner of the local church. In 1930 he was arrested. March 24, 1930 – sentenced to three years’ banishment to the Northern Territory [Special Board, OGPU Collegium]. Sent to Kotlas. January 22, 1931 – drawn into the investigation in a case against Catholic clergy and laity (Andruszewicz et al.). Charged with “espionage on behalf of Poland.” June 18, 1931 – sentenced under Article 54-6 of the Criminal Code of the Ukrainian SSR to ten years in corrective labor camp [Special Troika, GPU Collegium, UkrSSR].
