Biography of Stepan Niedzielski

Description:
Born into a peasant family in Vishkovska, Kiev province, in 1906. Had a high school education. Resided in Snezhki, outside Kiev; worked as a high school teacher and was a parishioner of the local church. The local authorities charged him with “delaying the closing of the church.” In October 1937 he was arrested in a case against Catholic clergy and laity (Gutowski et al.). Charged with belonging to a “counter-revolutionary organization created by Antoni Baśiński and the priest Albin Gutowski.” November 10, 1937 – sentenced to death under Articles 54-6, 54-11 and 16-54-9 of the Criminal Code of the Ukrainian SSR [NKVD Collegium and USSR Office of Public Prosecutor].
