Biography of Anton Kostecki

Born into the family of an unskilled laborer in 1871. Lived in Stavishche and was a member of the parish council of Holy Trinity Church; at the pastor’s request, he collected monies for the support of the church. In December 1928 – at the request of Fr. Albin Gutowski, he hid in his attic church valuables that were given to him by Maria Pokliewicz. When his house was searched, the valuables were discovered; Anton was arrested and sent to Bila Tserkva Prison, but then released two weeks later. In 1931 he was engaged in collecting signatures for the parishioners’ petition not to close Holy Trinity Church; he also collected money to pay for renting the church. From 1933 he worked at a Machine Tractor Station in Stavishche. Fate thereafter unknown. Source: Sokolovskyi, p. 101
