- Born into a peasant family in Buda-Makarovskaya, Kiev province, in 1870. Had an elementary education. Lived in Buda-Makarovskaya, worked on his own farm and was a member of the parish council of the local church. He maintained constant contact with Fathers Vladislav [Bronisƚaw?] Dunin-Wąsowicz and Nikolay Shchepanyuk; he raised his children “in the true Christian spirit.” January 23, 1930 – arrested in the case against the “Makarov religious-Catholic community, which actively carried out anti-Soviet work in the village and openly protested literally against all measures carried out by Soviet authority in the village.” May 9, 1930 – released from custody [Special Troika, GPU Collegium, UkrSSR].
