Biography of Father Kazimeras Vasilyauskas

Graduated from seminary and was ordained; served in Lithuania and was there at the time of the Soviet occupation. In 1941 he was arrested and sentenced to the camps. Sent to Intlag (village of Inta, Kozhvinsk region of Komi ASSR); transferred to Minlag in 1948; released in 1954. He had to remain at the settlement in Inta; in September he was living in Zapadnyi Posyolok outside Inta where he secretly celebrated Mass in parishioners’ apartments. After his release he returned to Lithuania where he became pastor of the cathedral parish in Vilnius and took an active role in the illegal dissemination of religious literature.
