Biography of Franz Hoffmann
- Description:
- Born in Rohleder [Raskaty], a German colony on the Lower Volga, Mariental district. Lived in Rohleder, worked on his own farm and was a member of the parish council of Mother of God parish. Meetings were held in his home where, according to informants’ denunciations, “questions of a political nature were discussed.” In 1930, during the mass arrests of clergy and laity, he went into hiding and was brought into the investigation in absentia as a “member of a counter-revolutionary group of church members in Rohleder, Mariental canton.” Subject of a nationwide search.
