Biography of Robert Haag

Born into a peasant family in Turash, Taurida province, on August 17, 1917. Completed the village school. Lived in Evpatoria and was a member of the local Catholic church. April 1, 1936 – arrested in a case against Catholic clergy and laity (Frison et al.). Charged with having had “close contact with the German pastor Frison over the course of several years.” April 1, 1936 – indicted on charges of “espionage and anti-Soviet agitation.” Convicted under Articles 58-6 and 58-10 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR.
